BOLTON County manager Mark Ormrod admits his side must now go on "all out attack" if they are to avoid relegation from Division One.
The second-bottom side were left with a mountain to climb to beat the drop after losing 6-2 at relegation rivals Lytham Town on Saturday.
With the bottom two going down, they are now six points behind third-bottom Lytham and safety with just three games remaining.
“We have no choice we have to go all out attack to try and get the result," said Ormrod, who believes his side need maximum points from their final three matches to stand any chance of survival.
County went into their "six-pointer" against Lytham on the back of a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture the previous weekend, but could not repeat their victory away from home.
The hosts put out a much-changed side and earned a comfortable victory that featured a hat-trick from striker Alan Greenwood.
County started well and controlled the first half but Greenwood scored the opener against the run of play just before half time.
Despite conceding, Ormrod said he went into the break "fairly pleased" with the first-half performance.
However, after the break Greenwood punished them with two more goals in quick succession to complete his hat-trick before the hour.
The visitors brought on Alex Todd for Joe Fielding after 64 minutes and Todd made an immediate impact, scoring with his first touch.
Alistair Dixon added another soon after and with 20 minutes to go County were back in the game at 3-2.
Ormrod took off a defender for an extra forward, but his attacking ploy backfired as County conceded three times in the final 10 minutes as they pushed forward in search of a vital three points.
County's next match is at home to mid-table Askam United on Saturday, April 11.
Eagley, Ladybridge, Tempest United, Stoneclough and CMB all saw their fixtures called off due to waterlogged pitches.
But Turton kept their Division One promotion hopes alive with a 1-0 win at GSK Ulverston Rangers.
The three points saw Neil Hart's side Turton move to within a point of second-placed Poulton, with the top two promoted.
Hart believes his players have the bit between their teeth as they bid for maximum points from their remaining three fixtures.
“We are not looking over our shoulder and are not interested in what the other teams are doing," he added. "The total focus is on ourselves and what we do.”
Turton were without captain Matt Eckersley, leading goal scorer Kieran Sisson, Daniel Locke and Jonny Waterworth for Saturday's game.
But Josh McGreavy had very little to do in the Turton goal in a first half they dominated, but was called upon to make a smart save just before the break to keep the scores level.
Turton continued to dominate after the interval and Dave Hanlon finally broke the deadlock on 53 minutes.
Dylan Winstanley out-muscled his defender and picked out Hanlon, who steadied himself before lashing the ball into the roof of the net.
Bad weather ensured CMB were given a weekend off to prepare for what manager Phil Roberts believes will be the biggest game of their season.
The Division Two side face Premier Division outfit Coppull United tomorrow in the rescheduled Lancashire FA Shield final at the County Ground, kick off 7.30pm.
Roberts acknowledges Coppull United go into the game as favourites.
However, he added: “It’s a great achievement for the lads but we’re not just turning up to enjoy it, we’re there to win it.
“At the level of football we’re playing at there isn’t anything bigger that we can win, so it would be a huge achievement.”
