Band name: The Statesmen
Members: Mark Whittenbury, vocals, from Whitefield; Mark Eglin, drums, from Bolton; Barry Smith, rhythm guitar, from Bury; Steve Patton, from bass, from Salford; Tommy Page, lead guitar, from Hyde.
When and where did you form?
The band originally formed a few years ago when me and Barry left our previous band to start a new venture.
What is your sound and who are your influences?
We are a classic rock band, influences include Van Halen, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, etc.
What is the biggest gig you have played to date?
Our biggest gig to date was an outdoor gig we played for HOC (Bury Harley Davidson owners club). It was at a rugby ground in Cheshire.
If you are not already, is it your ambition to become professional?
We're only in it for a bit of fun and to get us away from our day jobs every now and again. We're not looking to turn pro at any point (but none of us would say no to a recording deal!)
Is there anything unusual or interesting about the band?
The only unusual thing about the band is where our name came from, we are named after a snooker cue! (Long story)
Upcoming gigs?
We have gigs coming up all the time in the North West, check out the website for a list of dates — the-statesmen.com.
