DAISY HILL could go into tonight’s game against Atherton Collieries without a goalkeeper.
Central midfielder Ryan Mee donned the gloves in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Ashton Town after keeper Chris Taylor was sent off.
Sixth-placed Hill manager Craig Thomas said: “We’ve lost Chris and any loan keepers might be reluctant to play on a Friday night if they have to play on Saturday.”
Hill’s draw ended a run of five straight defeats. Bolton Sixth Form College student Kamil Dimiter scored the goal and looked a good prospect.
Ahead of the Colls match, Thomas said the local rivalry would lift his players.
“There will be a good atmosphere and the adrenalin will be up. We played well at their place in the league and can give them a good game.”
Despite losing central defender Mark Ayres to Ramsbottom, Colls manager Michael Clegg was also upbeat.
“Mark is an excellent player but our other excellent players are ready for Daisy Hill. After a poor show against them earlier in the season, we will be out for blood this time."
Second-placed Colls travel to New Sirs (7.45pm) knowing that if they better Camell Laird’s result at Darwen, they will go top, and now need only seven points from 12 games to guarantee promotion.
Chris Taylor and Nick Swirad will be missing for Hill through injury whilst Colls have a full-fit squad.
Atherton LR could overtake Daisy Hill if they win at home to Barnton on Saturday (3pm). Rovers mustered a 1-0 win when the sides met in Cheshire back in August and have had a week off since losing 2-1 at Cheadle last Saturday.
