A GANG of motor cycle youths was turning a quiet Bolton road into a race track residents claimed in Varley Road in August 1975.
Angry parents said the young people were putting the lives of young children in danger.
They were riding at speed up and down the straight length of road which parents claimed was designed as a play area.
After calling on the police to remove the gang the neighbours started a petition which they were sending to the Housing Department.
Were you one of the petitioning residents in this photograph and did your petition make a difference?
Or perhaps you have been involved in a campaign that had great success.
If you have stories to tell of living in this area in the 1970s or earlier we would love to hear from you here at Looking Back.
