THE Bolton and District Cricket Association feels it must reply to Bobby Denning's statement responding to Roy Cavanagh's article.
He states: "Local issues in Greater Manchester at the time stemmed mainly from certain leagues expanding and a lack of engagement with LCB, resulting in four cricket clubs having no league to play in."
In our case this statement does not represent the facts. In 2013, four clubs, Winton, Swinton Moorside, Worsley and Lostock (who wished to return) appled to join the B&DCA stating they had already resigned from the Manchester and District Association and would we give them somewhere to play.
They informed us they had resigned, as other clubs already had, because the problems they were experiencing were not being addressed.
We did not seek or advertise to expand but merely responded to a plea from those four clubs.
Regarding the four clubs mentioned by Bobby Denning, our chairman's article to be printed soon, explains the background to the whole process.
