Band name: Roscoe — Andy Sheridan (guitar/ vocals), Martin Holstead (drums), Lisa Sheridan (bass/ vocals), Ric Hughes (lead vocals, guitar, assorted instruments). Based in Bolton.
When and where did you form?
Ric and Martin started a band together years ago, after meeting one night in a club in Bolton called Hawthornes. We were joined by Andy after he attended a gig a couple of years later and he was the perfect fit for the way we like to work, making us develop as a unit ever since. We were joined by Lisa on bass around a year ago and we've found a great bass player who brings a fresh approach to what we do.
What is your sound and who are your influences?
We all like a lot of different bands, although we do agree on a handful ranging from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers through to Radiohead, and way too many to list in between. However, we find one person bringing an idea, then putting our own individual interpretation into it, then pulling and stretching it into a song that we can't wait to get out to people is what we love about our music.
What is the biggest gig you have played to date?
We played a gig at the Silver Blades ice rink in Altrincham a few years ago and, the size of the arena with a full house of hockey fans, it was a fantastic experience.
If you are not already, is it your ambition to become professional?
We're not full time — it'd be great to make a living out of something we enjoy doing, although everybody would, wouldn't they? Ric, in particular, really has got into the technical/ recording side of things and it really helps develop us as a band, as playing live is a world away from playing to a room full of microphones, so we're ready for anything!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
As long as we enjoy what we do, who knows? We love getting an audience involved. Ultimately we would like the opportunity to make an album or several, something for people to enjoy lyrically, musically or attitude-wise. Everyone likes the music they like as an individual and it would be out dream to put our work out into the market — without forcing it onto every iPhone in the world, obviously.
Is there anything unusual or interesting about the band?
Martin & Ric used to sit next to each other in college but never spoke to each other until forming a band a couple of years later. Andy and Lisa share a surname — it's a White Stripes kinda thing....
