ATHERTON comfortably became the first winners of the Bolton Association’s first 40/40 Cup on Sunday.
The day after relinquising their Bolton Association title to Flixton, the Higham Park men put some fresh silverware in the trophy cabinet.
A one-sided final saw Darcy Lever bowled all out for 123 from 25 overs with Scott Burns scoring 27 and Andrew Patel 26.
Josh Gilluley had an oustanding day with the ball, taking 6-25 for Atherton with Jamar Griffith finishing with 3-26.
Atherton needed only 17 overs to finish the job with seven wickets in hand, Rashon Primus scoring 52 not out and Griffith 42.
