EVERY year we choose a charity to receive the proceeds from our raffle on the night.
This year it is Fortalice. This amazing organisation has been going for almost 40 years in the town and has been a lifeline to hundreds, if not thousands, of woman escaping from domestic abuse.
Over the years it has grown from a small team with volunteers to now employing 28 full and part-time staff.
It does not just look after women and children, it also delivers an educational message about healthy relationships and early intervention in schools throughout the borough.
But its main aim is to make sure women are in a safe environment by providing emergency accommodation and a range of support services. There is a safe haven for up to 22 women and their children in comfortable, modern surroundings.
So please support the raffle on the night and help this worthwhile charity.
