AMBITIOUS Trojan Utilities is aiming to revolutionise an industry hidebound by “outdated thinking”.
Trojan offers specialist services in the installation and maintenance of domestic Smart Meters to energy suppliers and meter operators embarking on a Smart Meter roll out being implemented by the Government from 2015.
During the past two-and-a-half years, Trojan has specialised in creating a plan to efficiently service this demand during what will be a massive logistical and technical challenge for the energy industry.
Bolton-born Gareth Openshaw founded the company in 2011 and the performance in the first two years of trading surpassed all expectations, doubling the turnover in 2013 and is predicted to do so again, based on predictions to October this year.
“As a business you are always confident you’re doing the right things; however, it is fantastic to gain recognition of this by being shortlisted,” he said.
“Being shortlisted for SME of the Year is a massive achievement in itself for such a young company operating in such a large industry.
“It is testament to the passion and dedication our teams have throughout the business.” Plans are afoot to move to an 8,460 sq ft facility in Horwich, housing a workforce of up to 70, after starting out with only two employees operating from a small garage three years ago.
Mr Openshaw has designed his business model specifically for the Smart Meter industry, allowing instant response to movements and growth within the sector.
