STAFF at a pharmacy have raised £640 for Bolton Hospice by holding a raffle.

Kamsons Pharmacy, at Heaton Medical Centre, Lucy Street, Heaton, held the charity raffle in aid of the hospice after two members of staff had a loved one who was looked after there in the final days of their life.

Lorraine Bowcock’s step-father, Alan Walker, died 11 years ago from cancer, and Tracy Stott’s mum Joan died from lung cancer.

The hospice, in Queens Park Street, off Chorley New Road, provides free specialist palliative care services to people facing cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

Mrs Stott said: “It was a joint effort between all the staff and we are really pleased to have raised the money for such a good cause. I personally know the good work that the nurses there do because they looked after my mum before she died from lung cancer.

“I just hope that the money can help the hospice care for the comfort of another family like it did for mine.”
