A BOLTON man killed on the M61 on Tuesday night suffered injuries so horrific police are struggling to identify his body.
DNA records will be analysed to identify the man, understood to be in his 40s, who was hit by three cars on the northbound carriageway between junction 5 at Westhoughton and junction 6 at Horwich.
He was hit by a Vauxhall Astra and two Toyota Yarises at about 11.30pm on Tuesday, September 2.
The incident caused the motorway to be closed for about five hours.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
