A CRIMINAL who threatened a female juror as she left court after convicting him has appeared before magistrates.
At Bolton Magistrates Court Yusuf Farah pleaded guilty to threatening the juror and will be sentenced for the offence on September 22 when he appears before Judge Peter Davies at Bolton Crown Court.
Steve Woodman, prosecuting, told magistrates how 19-year-old Farah had been on trial for affray at Bolton Crown Court and on the afternoon of August 29 the jury returned a guilty verdict.
Farah was granted bail until his sentencing, but as he was leaving the building, he encountered members of the jury and he threatened one of the women on the panel.
Adam Whittaker, defending, described the encounter between the two as “a breakdown in the system” and stressed that Farah, of Avenue Street, Halliwell, had not sought out the juror.
