EAGLEY will be looking to follow up their first win of the season with back-to-back away games this weekend.
Last weekend’s two-wicket victory over Kearsley was Eagley’s first triumph of the campaign after 22 attempts.
A trip to third-bottom Little Lever tomorrow should prove to be a close contest with the hosts only managing three victories themselves this season.
Sunday’s opposition, Egerton, will be a sterner test as they sit comfortably in mid-table.
Eagley go into the weekend confident but captain Danny Counsell is not setting his hopes too high, insisting the remaining four games are all about development for the younger players in the side.
“The win came as a bit of a shock,” he said.
“It is a nice feeling to get it over with as it was a long time coming but we probably deserved it on the day.”
“Next year will be different.
“We have got a very young squad and it is all about the kids getting some experience this year then along with a couple of new signings we can kick on next year.”
Michael O’Rourke scored an unbeaten 52 runs as Eagley hit 94-8 last time out.
Meanwhile, deputy pro Umega Chaturanga returned bowling figures of 7-26 which drew praise from Counsell.
“He is a good player and I was very impressed with his performance.
“We would have struggled without him – he was top notch.
“It was wonderful to have him in the squad.
“When a pro performs well it gives the whole team a boost.
“Our future results will depend on him as to how we fare for the rest of the season as our pro has returned home.”
