A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 62-year-old man died from neck injuries.
The victim, Derek Alexander Szostok, died in hospital on Saturday after he was injured in an alleged assault at a house in Moresby Close, Leigh, last Tuesday.
Police went to the street at about 1.50am on Tuesday, August 26, after someone called to report an assault.
They said there was a "disturbance" in which a Mr Szostok, a neighbour, had been injured.
He was taken to hospital, but died at about 4.15pm on Saturday.
A Home Office post-mortem examination revealed that Mr Szostok died as a result of "flexation of the neck".
Now a 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody for questioning.
In a statement issued via the police, Derek's family said: "God bless you brother, you will be sadly missed by all the family.
"God Bless you, say hello to mum for us."
