ONE of Bolton’s busiest post offices is one of the first in the country to open on Sundays.
The Bolton North Delivery Office will be open between noon and 4pm from this Sunday as part of a pilot scheme.
It means people can now pick up parcels seven days a week from the post office.
Rob Jenson, operations director for Royal Mail, said: “We are continuing to be more customer responsive and provide more options for people to receive items they have ordered online.
“I am delighted to pilot Sunday afternoon opening at 100 of our delivery offices across the UK with the highest parcel volumes, including Bolton North.”
Bolton North has been chosen because it is one of the 100 busiest delivery offices in the country.
The decision was taken the open the Calvin Street post office seven days a week to make it easier for people to receive items they have ordered online.
Back in June Royal Mail Group’s express parcels business, Parcelforce Worldwide, also launched a Sunday delivery service for online shoppers through participating e-retailers.
The service is available to contract customers across the UK.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “This is part of an on-going programme by Royal Mail to be more customer responsive and provide more options for people to receive items they have ordered online.”
