THE boss of a newly-opened tanning and beauty salon has vowed he will comply with stringent safety legislation controlling the power of UV rays.
James Scott, aged 34, has opened Sun Studio in Chorley Old Road, in a building owned by his 67-year-old father Stephen.
Former Thornleigh College pupil Mr Scott said: “Sun beds have had a bad press in recent years. But there is law regulating the strength of our tube to a unit of 0.3, which our equipment adheres to.”
Mr Scott has given up his career as a car salesman at various dealerships to launch the outlet, where five staff work.
These include nail technician Catherine Court, beauty therapist Lyndsey Ashton, receptionists Tracey Davis and Rebecca McCabe.
Mr Scott’s girlfriend Samantha Smith also helps out at the salon.
Mr Scott added: “We’ve already got loads of very nice customers.”
