OLD Boltonians maintained their 100 per cent winning record with a dramatic 2-1 victory at Horwich Victoria.
The Premier Division game burst into life in the dying minutes when bottom club Victoria equalised before Old Bolts won it with the last kick of the game.
With eight first-team players missing, Bolts had to make full use of their 20-man squad.
Darren Dalton missed a good chance and Lucas Gaynor hit the bar from 25 yards as Bolts dominated the early period.
Victoria came more into it after the break, but it was the visitors who drew first blood when Gaynor raced to the touchline and crossed for Rob Taylor to head home.
It looked like Victoria had denied their Bolton rivals two points when Austin Brobbey latched on to a pass from Dean Spencer and slotted in from the edge of the box in the 90th minute.
Their joy was shortlived, however, as Dalton finished off a goalmouth scramble following a corner in the fourth minute of injury time.
Castle Hill were left rueing two disputed decisions as they went down to their third successive defeat of the new season.
A fine performance from the Tonge Moor men saw them go into the break 2-0 up before Mostonians halved the arrears and then grabbed the two goals Castle Hill felt should not have been allowed to stand.
“It was a really good performance and we didn’t deserve to lose,” said official Conrad Henry. “It’s not sour grapes when we say their two goals shouldn’t have stood.”
Hill, who are joint bottom with Bolton rivals Horwich Victoria and Little Lever without any points, deserved their two-goal lead after dominating the first half.
Dean Edmondson put them ahead with a towering header and Chris Beresford doubled the lead with a spectacular overhead kick.
They had Lewis Otley sent off for a second yellow card in the second half and dug in to preserve their lead until the home team’s double strike that left the local lads frustrated.
Little Lever’s early season difficulties continued as they suffered their third successive defeat with a 4-1 setback at Tottington United, while Howe Bridge Mills are eighth following a 2-0 home defeat to Old Blackburnians.
Farnworth, who began life in Division One with two draws, earned their first win with an impressive 3-0 success at Old Bolts reserves.
There were two goals on his debut from Jon-Paul Caruana and one from Grant Dean.
