DEFENDER Matt Mills refuses to dwell on Tuesday’s home defeat to Middlesbrough and is confident Wanderers can get their first Championship win at Brighton today.
For the second season running, the Whites have started the campaign slowly.
But Mills is dispelling any negative talk with just three league games played and is sure the squad is equipped enough to get wins in the second tier, starting on the south coast this weekend.
He said: “We have only gone three games. It’s not all doom and gloom but at the same time it means everything.
“It is your life and when you don’t get three points it is bitterly disappointing.
“As a footballer, as you do in life, you have got to get over the disappointments quickly. There is no point carrying this hangover into Saturday.
“Brighton is a tough place to go to but it’s not a place we should fear going to.
“Hopefully we can get the three points. They have not had a fantastic start so hopefully we can go there, put some pressure on them and get a result.”
The Whites make the long trip to Sussex having picked up just one point from six on home soil after an opening-day defeat at Watford.
Mills concedes a draw against early league leaders Nottingham Forest was a fair outcome but rued the chance to get the win he feels the team deserved against Boro in midweek.
He added: “It was a game we should have won. It was a massive disappointment.
“The Forest game was probably a fair result. If you can put in an honest performance and feel the result is just then you can stomach it.
“We grew into the game by scoring a goal but then you have a couple of decisions that go against you.
“We just didn’t do enough.
“I don’t think it was a game we should have lost. We feel we are good enough to pick up wins in this league convincingly. We just need to do it.”
