THE memory of a murdered teenager will live on at an event organised to raise funds to help other victims.
The family fun day will feature a rounders competition and a balloon release in memory of 16-year-old Sasha Marsden, who was murdered two years ago.
The teenager, who moved away from Bolton with her family when she was about eight years old, was lured to a hotel in Blackpool and killed in January 2012.
Family and friends will be coming together to help raise funds for a bench with a plaque for Sasha to be placed at Bolton Cricket Club, in Great Lever, so friends and family still living in Bolton can go to remember her.
Money will also be raised for Lancashire Safe (Sexual Assault Forensic Examination) Centre, to help victims of sexual abuse.
Dawn Lowe, aged 53, Sasha’s aunty, from Great Lever, said: “Sasha was like every other 16-year-old, she was a lively, cheeky girl. She was always there for her friends, always helping people and she would do anything for anybody.
“The day is being held for people to enjoy themselves and raise as much money as they can.”
Men, women and children will make up 12 teams that will compete in the rounders tournament.
A bouncy castle, face painting, music, a barbecue, raffles and prizes will all feature at the event.
The fundraisers held following Sasha’s death have helped to raise thousands of pounds for the safe centre.
David Minto, aged 23, from Blackpool, was found guilty of Sasha's murder in July and was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum time of 35 years to serve before being eligible for parole.
The fundraising event will take place tomorrow (Sunday) at the cricket club in Green Lane, Great Lever, and will start at 11am.
Teams wishing to play in the rounders tournament will need to register by 10.30am.
