A DOG walker attacked a woman as she was out walking in Little Hulton.
The 24-year-old victim was walking along Manchester Road towards Cleggs Lane at 1.25am on Sunday when the man passed her.
She carried on and, a few minutes later, heard his dog.
The woman turned and saw the man, who stretched out his arm and caught her in the face.
She screamed and ran off.
Police are hunting the attacker and have produced a digital image of the man responsible.
He was said to be white, in his late 30s, about 5ft 7in tall and bald with a slender face.
He was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and was walking a black dog.
Det Con Paula Scholfield said: "This incident has left the young woman feeling alarmed and distressed and, while we do not know the exact circumstances surrounding what happened or any possible motive at this time, we really need to trace the dog walker.
