A DRUNKEN man has been jailed after he threatened to cut himself with a drink can because he was refused entry into Durty Gurty’s in Bradshawgate.
Paul Calderbank, aged 42, of no fixed address, admitted breaching a suspended sentence by being drunk and disorderly outside the popular town centre bar.
He began shouting and threatening to cut himself with a cola can, Bolton Magistrates Court heard.
When police confronted Calderbank, who was holding a broken drink can, he began shouting angrily.
He had injuries to his neck and threatened to cut himself, and was tackled to the ground by police for his own safety.
Adam Whittaker, defending, said: “He was with his girlfriend and other afternoon drinkers, and suspected someone was trying to chat up his girlfriend in the pub.
"He didn’t hurt anyone. He only threatened to hurt himself.”
Calderbank was jailed for six weeks after breaching his 12-month suspended sentence from a public order offence in April.
