A GROUP of volunteers are inviting people to join them on a trek up Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Bolton Hospice.
The 10-day trek starts on June 27 next year and will see participants pass through five different ecological zones, from the rainforest to semi-desert landscapes and the Arctic zone.
The trek has been designed for people of all levels of fitness and a number of spaces have become available.
Among those taking part in the adventure is Bolton Hospice chairwoman Judith Bromley.
She said: “I’ve always regarded Kilimanjaro as one of the toughest challenges out there but it’s nothing compared to what our patients and their families at the hospice have to face every day.”
Trekkers are asked to raise sponsorship, as the hospice has to find £2.5 million per year to continue caring for local people with cancer and life-limiting illnesses.
For information, visit the hospice’s fundraising office in Queens Park Street, between 9am and 5pm, or email communityfundraiser@boltonhospice.org or call 01204 663 065.
