POLICE are appealing for witnesses of a crash in Belmont that left two women in hospital.
The Vauxhall smashed into a tree before spinning down an embankment and hitting another tree.
The driver, a 25-year-old woman from Blackburn, suffered bruises, while the front seat passenger, a 20-year-old woman, also from Blackburn, was left with head, stomach and groin injuries.
Police say their enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the oncoming vehicle, who is a possible witness.
Sgt Dave Hogarth, from Lancashire Police's road policing unit, said: “The driver and passenger of the Vauxhall were fortunate to receive relatively minor injuries.
"I am keen to trace any witnesses, and I am particularly keen to speak to the driver of the vehicle travelling in the opposite direction to the Astra who may be able to offer vital evidence surrounding the circumstances of this collision.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log number 0233 of Tuesday, August 19.
