A WEDDING shop has attracted leading designers from America after a successful revamp.
The Wedding Room, formerly known as Solitaire Wedding Centre, has upgraded its Blackburn Road base and adopted a new approach.
Following the successful relaunch, managing director Emma Hughes was approached by wedding dress designer David Tutera.
Tutera’s dresses are available as well as designs of fellow American Bowls who specialises in “red carpet” outfits for corporate events.
Ms Hughes said: “It is very unusual for a wedding dress designer of his reputation to approach a shop like us.
“We believe it is because we have adapted to the changes which have taken place in the wedding industry.”
In the past year, since opening the store, Ms Hughes and owner Sam Schofield have tailored the way they run the business to meet the changing demands of their customers.
Ms Hughes added: “Brides-to-be have a much clearer idea of what they want because they have done the research on the internet and they want to come in and try a particular dress that they have found online.
“Customers are much less open to suggestion, but they are a lot more knowledgeable about designers and the quality of what is on offer.”
The main focus of Ms Hughes and her staff is to ensure that brides-to-be have an enjoyable experience when planning their weddings.
The sales team has more than a hundred years’ of combined experience, and over this time they have developed relationships with a select few suppliers who they believe offer the same high level of commitment to customers as they do.
Suppliers include Diddybox Florist, Heather B Photography, entertainers Matt Philips and Out of the Blue and Love My Trike, who supply ice cream vans for wedding favours with a twist.
Make-up artist Helen Cafferky and Ms Hughes also provide hair and beauty services.
Ms Hughes and bridal sales consultant Lindsay Morris believe that they can provide an excellent service for women with any budget.
She added: “Our wedding dresses range in price from £499 to £2,070 and there are outfits for special occasions from £99 to £3,500.
“Our objective is to make people feel as special buying a £99 outfit as they would buying one for £3,500.”
