A MAN has been jailed for selling two stolen Range Rovers for more than £50,000.
Paul Andrew Shallaker pleaded guilty to two counts of handling stolen goods — two Range Rover Evoques.
One was stolen in Greenbarn Way, Blackrod, between October 5 and November 13 last year, and the other was stolen in Lingmour Road, Heaton, between November 2 and 12 last year.
One of the vehicles belonged to Stephen Bray and was worth £43,000, and another, owned by Steven Kramer, was worth £40,000, Bolton Crown Court heard.
Shallaker, aged 43, posed as the owner to sell them on to two unassuming buyers, one for £25,000 cash and the other for a £26,900 bank transfer.
Shallaker, of Fairway, Rochdale, yesterday was jailed for 10 months.
He will serve half the sentence in prison and the other half on licence.
He also admitted two further counts of converting criminal property. Sentencing at Bolton Crown Court, Recorder Paul O'Brien said: “You handled two very expensive vehicles.
“You posed as the owner for a legitimate sale. You used an assumed name for the purchases of the vehicles.
“There must be a degree of sophistication as to how this offence was committed.”
