PROSTESTERS calling for an end to Israeli military action in Gaza gathered in Victoria Square today.

Peaceful protestors briefly clashed with a handful of aggressive passers-by before being broken up by police.

One man who broke into the protest circle was taken away by officers.

Yasmin Qureshi joined members of Stop the War Coalition and Bolton's Muslim community in their speeches to "free Palestine."

Two riot vans and police squads arrived before the prostest started at 3pm.

About 200 people are still in the square chanting "Free Palestine."
