AN art studio for mental health patients has officially opened its doors.
The Studios, above the offices of mental health charity MhIST (Mental Health Independent Support Team) in Moor Lane, Bolton, is open to patients with mental health issues who have been referred by their hospital.
The first few patients have already been pencilled in to take part in art lessons, which are run by a professional teacher.
David Langdon, manager of the studio, said: “The event was a success — I was really encouraged that people took the time out to find out more about us.
“Everyone said they enjoyed it. Hopefully now we can make a difference to mental health patients in Bolton.”
Among those to attend The Studios’ open day were Cllr Noel Spencer, along with staff from Royal Bolton Hospital, MhIST, Bolton Arts Forum and support workers from Oak Lodge Independent Hospital in Little Lever.
