A UKIP North West MEP has sparked controversy by calling for the death penalty to be reintroduced.
Britain outlawed the measure in the 1960s during a Labour Government in which Roy Jenkins was Home Secretary.
Louise Bours, the party’s health spokesman, said the sentence should be brought in for certain crimes where guilt is “beyond doubt”.
She told website Buzzfeed: “We’re not talking about manslaughter and accidental death. I’m talking about justice for people where guilt is not in doubt.”
