A BOLTON teenager is gearing up to enjoy glitz and glamour in the final of Miss Teen Great Britain.

Tamara Hindley, aged 16, of Harpers Lane, Smithills, recently dressed up for her school prom and will don a beautiful gown for the contest at The Globe, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, on August 30 and 31.

Organisers say the event is not a beauty contest but has been created to be a positive and confidence-building experience.

The former Canon Slade pupil, who is set to study art and design at Bolton College, said: “It’s about how you are as a person and how you represent yourself. It would mean a lot to me to win. You get to go everywhere and see different places and meet all the girls.”

At the age of 14, Tamara took part in a photoshoot with Alan Strutt, who has snapped some of the world’s most glamorous women, including Naomi Campbell and Madonna, and she now hopes to sign to a modelling agency in London.

She added: “I would love to make a career out of it.”
