What is your sound and who are your influences? The band’s influences straddle rock, folk and credible country with a celtic tinge. We’re a guitar band with an acoustic flavour, but with Telecasters, Stratocasters, a swirling organ and (sometimes) piano to the fore. Primarily a vehicle for the songs of Nick Jackson, the band has four CD albums under its belt.
What is the biggest gig you have played to date? Played an outside stage in Princes Street during Edinburgh Festival in two consecutive years in the mid the noughties.
If you are not already, is it your ambition to become professional? We are professional, because we only play if we get paid.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? If we’re still alive, having a ball, playing great music.
Is there anything unusual or interesting about the band? The Nick Jackson Band recently launched its latest album, Ballads, Social Music and Songs in the Italian capital Rome – at the Big Mama rock club in the shadow of the Vatican.
Upcoming gigs? Dungeon Inn, Turton Road,Tottington, Lancs, BL8 4AW, Saturday, August 30
