A CRUNCH meeting on the Horwich Loco Works has been postponed.

Councillors were set to meet at a special meeting of the planning committee tomorrow, to decide whether to allow 1,700 new homes to be built as part of the new Rivington Chase development.

But a spokesman for the council said the meeting will now be held in mid-September, while council officers and developers Horwich Vision finalise details around the Section 106 agreement.

The agreements are planning obligations which see developers give a contribution towards infrastructure and services.

Developers Horwich Vision submitted the plans in January with provision for 20 acres of employment land and 50 acres of open space. It will include pedestrian and cycle routes.

Since then, residents have voiced concerns on a range of issues.
