YOUNG people got their skates on for a competition at Bolton’s town centre skate park.
The park, at Dawes Street near Morrisons, has hosted the “Play Day” event every year since 2008 but this will be the last contest before the area undergoes a £180,000 revamp and nearly doubles in size.
The competition saw events for scooters, skateboards and BMX bikes and was organised by Bolton YMCA and young users of the park.
Gareth Couperthwaite, of Bolton YMCA, said: “The competition went very well. All the judges were young people who use the park and they worked hard to organise and promote the event.
“It was important from the YMCA perspective to allow the young people to run the competition, and to take ownership.”
