A GROUP keen to preserve the beauty and tranquillity of canals around Bolton is appealing for help on a “restoration weekend”.
A working party from Manchester Bolton and Bury Canal Society (MBBC) will get cracking this Saturday and Sunday clearing weeds, improving towpaths and removing vegetation from the locks areas.
The activity takes place at Nob End Locks and Boscow Road, Little Lever, meeting at 10am near the canal bridge at the end of Boscow Road and work carries on to 4pm on both days. MBBC was formed in 1987 and aims to restore the canal through Bolton, Bury and Salford to join the national waterways network. More information is available from Mr Taylor on 07926 795398.
