WATFORD manager Beppe Sannino hailed the first-half display of his team that set up what turned out ot be a comprehensive victory against Wanderers.
Goals from Watford’s striking duo of Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra put the Whites on the back foot early on and then another forward, this time Fernando Forestieri grabbed a third goal after his second-half introduction from the bench.
It was the perfect start for the Italian boss who told the Watford website: “I am happy for the fans and for everyone at the club, certainly for all the players, because that was an important start to the season with a win.
“We played against a good team but in the first half my team was very good in the way they passed the ball, and the balance on the pitch was good.
“I am happy but I would like some improvements, we need to get our condition right for 90 minutes.
“Today I’m happy for all.”
Sannino had stressed the importance of getting off to a good start to the campaign before the game and saw his training ground plans executed perfectly at Vicarage Road.
He added: “For the supporters and for the club, it was an important start, but for me it was important to start with a strong performance. For 40 minutes we were the better team.”
New signing Juan Carlos Paredes was also pleased with his winning debut.
The Ecuador international said: “The first victory is always very important because it gives the team a lot of confidence to look forward.
