ANDY LONERGAN...5 Flapped at a couple of crosses and showed some indecision. On the flip side, he made a couple of decent saves in the second half.

KEVIN MCNAUGHTON...5 Left exposed at times but also gave away possession too often. Not the worst culprit on the pitch, though.

MATT MILLS...5 Back together with Ream at the heart of the Wanderers defence but this was not the reunion that Mills would have wanted.

TIM REAM...5 Beaten too easily at times by Deeney – the American also seemed unusually wasteful with the ball.

DEAN MOXEY...4 An error-strewn debut to forget. Moxey’s record suggests he is much better than he showed at Vicarage Road.

JAY SPEARING...5 The skipper put himself about and saw more of the ball than anyone else but his passing radar was well off.

MEDO KAMARA...6 Showed a bit of fight in the first half, even if he was lucky to have escaped a car. One good effort from distance too.

CHUNG-YONG LEE...6 After an anonymous start, improved in the second half and went close with a clever chip. Also created a chance for Beckford.

DARREN PRATLEY...4 Nothing went right for Pratley who stumbled his way through 45 minutes before being hauled off at the break.

NEIL DANNS...5 Started brightly at looked as likely as anyone to get something going but faded in the second half.

CRAIG DAVIES...6 Although starved of decent service at times, the Wales international did show some decent touches.

Subs: Feeney 46 (for Pratley) 7 – Injected a bit of purpose into the game.

Dervite 60 (for Moxey) 5 – Caught flat for the third goal.

Beckford 68 (for Danns) 5 – Had one god chance but hit fresh air.

WHITES STAR MAN: Liam Feeney

The half-time substitute at least gave Wanderers some purpose after a directionless first half. His pace and direct running caused a few problems for Watford and it would be a shock if he wasn’t involved next weekend against Nottingham Forest.

THEIR STAR MAN – Troy Deeney Bullied the Wanderers back four into submission. Could have had a couple more goals to show for his efforts but it’s easy to see why he is being chased by so many Premier League clubs.

Referee: Carl Boyeson (Hull) 7 Kept his cards in his pocket but Medo will feel a little lucky to have escaped punishment after one second-half challenge. Overall, the East Yorkshire ref had an easy afternoon.

Entertainment – 6/10 Not much to shout about from a Wanderers perspective but Watford played some decent stuff. Feeney’s second-half cameo lightened the mood on the terraces a little.

Atmosphere – 7/10 Wanderers’ 1,200-strong travelling contingent were a credit, singing to the end. Their annoyance could be heard at half time and full time whistles but who could blame them?

Match point – It took just 15 seconds for Dean Moxey’s debut to turn sour, when his under-played back-pass gifted a chance to Deeney. The Watford striker didn’t take it but the jitters had set in.

Magic moment – Chung-Yong Lee’s deft chip from the edge of the box forced Heurelho Gomes into a super save. It was a rare moment of genuine class for the Whites.
