AN exhibition of precious material detailing Westhoughton’s World War One story was being opened to the public today.
The material, collated by the Westhoughton Local History Group, can be viewed at Westhoughton Library until November 11 — Armistice Day.
The names of the 197 fallen servicemen whose names are inscribed on the town’s war memorial form part of the exhibition — along with an extra 24 who have been found during research.
There is also a water colour collage telling the town’s war story, centered on the war memorial. The mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Kevan Jones, will open the exhibition at 10.30am.
