DOUGIE Freedman reserved his judgement on Wanderers after they succumbed to a first pre-season defeat at Mjallby last night.
After going two goals up through Jermaine Beckford and Rob Hall, they found themselves 3-2 down at half time after getting caught out on the break.
Freedman refused to be too downbeat – reasoning that the most disappointing performance of the tour could be put down to how hard his players had trained on the trip.
“You saw in the first 20 minutes that what we’ve been working on in training was being put into practice and I was very happy with that,” he said.
“But we got broke on three times and I can’t judge just now whether that is because of the stage we are in pre-season or whether our recovery wasn’t where it should be because we’re a little fatigued.
“It’s unfair for me to criticise so I’ll reserve my opinion on the second 20 minutes of the first half. Conceding three goals like that is not really us.
“Maybe we were guilty of over-playing a bit but we need that element of risk to play in the way I want us to.
“I was a little bit uncomfortable with how deep we were in the second half but, again, that might be for fitness reasons.”
