EBI Smolarek failed to reproduce his fine goalscoring record for Poland when he made the move to the Reebok in August 2008.
Joining on a season-long loan deal from Racing Santander, the striker managed only one goal in his 13 appearances for Bolton – a deflected goal against Sunderland in the FA Cup.
Two years previously Smolarek was part of the Poland squad that went to the World Cup in Germany.
The striker started every game as the Poles opened with a 2-0 defeat to Ecuador and then followed it up by losing 1-0 to the hosts.
Victory over Costa Rica in the final group game was not enough for them to qualify for the last 16.
Smolarek made his international debut in 2002 and scored 20 goals in 47 appearances before calling time on his Poland career in 2010.
