Band name:
The Mighty Revelators
Members names and where they are from:
Rick Lucas, Mark Hopkins, Aaron Lloyd, Col Schofield, from Bury.
Where and when and where did you form?
The band formed after meeting at a jam night in Manchester in 2009.
What is your sound and who are your influences?
We got together to play quality funky blues. Each member of the band has a wealth of experience from playing in several other, different bands over the years. Whilst each of us has certain influences, our mutual love of the blues and a desire to play tastefully and respectfully becomes evident when we play. All of us contribute to the songwriting process, and we choose to create new original songs rather than play the standards that we have heard many times before. You may hear a musical tip of the hat to players such as BB King, Bo Diddley, Ronnie Earl, Johnny Guitar Watson, Steve Cropper, Elmore James, Albert Collins, Roy Buchanan, The MGs, Little Feat, The Meters, The Allmans. The list goes on.
What is the biggest gig you have played to date?
We have played all over the country on the festival circuit and have done two tours of Germany, the most recent and largest appearance being at the Bamberg Jazz and Blues Festival in 2013, which was broadcast worldwide.
If you are not already, is it your ambition to become professional?
We would love to, but we have all been around for long enough to realise that that is unlikely. We just love to play, write and record our songs.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Still playing and still loving it. otherwise there would be no point. We hope to continue to develop our audience in the UK and Europe. A further German tour is planned for Autumn 2014.
Is there anything unusual or interesting about the band?
All four of us are singers and writers. We also have two albums available: Hits & Misfits from 2011 and the latest, Eyes on the Road, from 2014.
Upcoming gigs?
July 12, The Belgrave in Darwen, and July 19, The Man and Scythe, Bolton.
