Act name: Janileigh Cohen
When and where did you start performing? Born in Bolton, aged 22.
What is your sound and who are your influences?
Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, poet, and novelist Leonard Cohen; late American folk musician Jackson C Frank and British singer-songwriter and guitarist, John Martyn.
What is the biggest gig you have played to date?
I played at Gullivers, Manchester, on May 22 supporting a reggae band. It was my biggest gig up to date.
If you are not already, is it your ambition to become professional? yes Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully playing acoustic festivals, travelling and making lots of music.
Is there anything unusual or interesting about the band/act?
I play and write songs mostly in my bedroom. I'm very new to this gigging scene. Blind Tiger, Nelson Square, Bolton, really give me the boost I needed. My main instruments are piano and guitar.
Other gigs
I played a gig recently played at the Blind Tiger on a Thursday night and Band On The Wall, Manchester, on Monday. My upcoming gigs include Bolton Food and Drink Festival in August.
