Act name: Tori Wooff
How did you get into music?
My dad got me playing classical guitar when I was 12-years-old after me begging him to teach me how to be Jimmy Page. A couple of years later was when I really started to sing and play together. However, I think most of my practice came from when my older sister and me were young. We wrote hundreds of songs together — pretty embarrassing stuff — but I think it set me up for the future!
What is your sound and who are your influences?
I listen to a lot of 1970s classic rock and I think it gives my music a definite folk influence. My all time favourite band is Led Zeppelin — I cover a lot of their more acoustic songs. I've been told my song-writing sounds a lot like the 'female' Neil Young or Cat Stevens but I'm still working on it. First Aid Kit are a huge influence to my music, their guitar picking is enviable.
What is the biggest gig you have played to date?
I've played a few pubs around Bolton but I'm relatively new on the scene. I have a couple of good upcoming gigs though.
If you are not already, is it your ambition to become professional?
Definitely! It's something I've dreamt of since I was tiny — but what little girl doesn't dream of that? Even if it’s just getting my song writing out there.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself making music everywhere and really enjoying what I'm doing. I want to play big venues and meet great musicians whilst I'm at it. I want to be content with my song-writing and hopefully be getting it across to other people too.
Is there anything unusual or interesting about the band?
The people I know are great musicians so I duet with my friend a lot of the time — I play guitar whilst she comes up with these beautiful harmonies which is great fun.
Upcoming gigs?
There's B Fest (in Bolton town centre on Easter Monday) which I imagine is going to be insane and I'm playing Tiger Fest at The White Tiger, Horwich, on May 4 which I'm very excited for!
