FIREFIGHTERS from Farnworth and Atherton were called out to a fire in a disused building.
Four fire engines were called to Laburnum Avenue, Lower Ince, at 3pm yesterday and crews managed to contain the fire.
Station Manager Ben Levy, who was in charge of the incident, said: “The fire was in the roof space and was well alight when we arrived.
“Crews were at either side of the fire and have stopped it from spreading which will limit the damage. There was some smoke coming from the scene, so we were encourage people living nearby to keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution.”
Crews were tackling the blaze into late afternoon.
