ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly youngsters are learning to save energy as the they become among the first in the country to take part in a Smart Kids education programme.
Devonshire Road Primary, Heaton, St Catherine’s Primary , Horwich, St Mary’s CE Primary, Deane, Holy Infant and St Anthony RC Primary in Astley Bridge, all took part in the E.ON workshops.
Smart Kids is focused on different types of energy sources and ways to save energy in the home whilst completing energy related tasks and experiments.
Bolton pupils were some of the first to experience what is to be a wider programme involving almost 3,500 pupils in schools across Nottingham, Coventry and Mansfield.
Stephen Eccles, science coordinator, at Holy Infant and St Anthony, said: “Our pupils enjoyed the Smart Kids programme.
“The workshops were exciting and the practical nature of the activities helped them to understand more about where energy comes from and how to use it sensibly and efficiently.”
