SPECIAL constables took to the streets in Bolton to mark a national awareness event.
National Specials Weekend to promote the work the constables who give up their own time to give back to the community.
More than 200 special constables were on streets across Greater Manchester focusing on distraction burglary, burglary and rogue traders.
Chief Con Sir Peter Fahy said: “Special constables bring a wealth of life skills and experience to the role and can be placed at the heart of community engagement.
“They embody the Peelian principle of ‘the police are the public and the public is the police’.
“They continue to improve local policing and help to strengthen the links between the police and communities.
“Our special constabulary make a huge difference to people’s lives and I would personally like to thank them for their service.”
