A PUB-goer has been given the honour of reopening his local after it underwent a £700,000 refurbishment.
Paddy Serridge, who is a regular at The Sparking Clog, in Radcliffe Moor Road, Radcliffe, will cut the ribbon at the pub’s official reopening ceremony on Tuesday April 22.
Mr Serridge was nominated after a vote was cast on Facebook by The Sparking Clog asking which local should reopen the pub.
Jane Tabbenor, landlady of the pub, said: “Paddy’s a great guy — he’s just a good all-rounder and he’s really popular with the people here.
“We’re so excited for the reopening day. This pub is going to be the busiest and best pub in Radcliffe.”
The reopening ceremony will include appearances from SpongeBob SquarePants and Peppa Pig mascots and a facepainter.
The whole interior of The Sparking Clog has been gutted and revamped, with a new restaurant and bar area, booths with touch-screen TVs, and a new garden a new children’s play area.
The pub’s refurbishment has taken just under two months.
