LIFE could not be much sweeter at present for Wanderers loan star Neil Danns.

Another fine display in last weekend’s win at Watford extended both the club’s and his own unbeaten run since he arrived from Leicester in September.

He scored the matchwinner as the Whites broke their Championship duck at Birmingham in his second outing and has been a mainstay in the team in recent weeks.

It is no wonder then, that the 31-year-old says he would jump at the chance to sign on a permanent basis at the Reebok.

The Liverpudlian still has a month of his loan spell remaining but has conceded previously he does not have much of a future back at Leicester.

No talks have yet got underway but Danns is hopeful something could get sorted if Wanderers are open to an extended stay.

Danns, who has played seven games for Wanderers, said: “I have not had any conversations about the future yet with either Leicester or Bolton but everyone knows I am enjoying my time here immensely.

“I would jump at the chance to join permanently if I had my way tomorrow.

“There are a lot of things that have to be sorted out between the two clubs, though, before that can happen – that is even if Bolton want me to stay.

“I don’t jump the gun; I will take each game as it comes and keep enjoying it and give my all then what will be, will be.

“The gaffer touched on the fact when he brought me in that he knew me well and wasn’t taking a gamble.

“He knows my strengths and what I can add to the team.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and hopefully I have impressed enough to stay.”

Danns and his fellow loan stars including Kevin McNaughton and Liam Feeney before his recall to Millwall, have certainly put in impressive displays.

But the midfielder who played alongside Dougie Freedman at Crystal Palace and then under him during his time as manager, says the whole team deserves credit.

It does not surprise him, however, that they have turned their season around after the worst league start for more than 100 years and that everyone now has a smile on their face.

Danns, who is in line for a 350th career club appearance today, added: “I came here knowing the capabilities of the squad even from being an outsider looking in.

“I knew there were some good players here.

“I have only known positives since I have been here and for me it has not been a shock to see how well we have been playing Everyone has started to click and gel and now everyone is showing that ability we have in the squad.

“The balance seems right at the moment. When you are enjoying your football as we are, you express yourself more.

“Eight games unbeaten is a perfectly good reason for people to be smiling and the results have been good of late. The plan is to keep the good form we have been in going at Middlesbrough.

“We know it’s going to be tough up there and I’ve heard they have a ticket offer on as well so are expecting a big crowd.

“But we go into it on the back of a great result at Watford.

“We went there and it may have been a big ask to win there in a lot of people’s eyes.

“But we were full of belief that we could get a good result.

“Through hard work and the manager’s tactics, it paid off and we got three points.

“Hopefully, we can use that to give us that confidence today.”
