TEACHERS, pupils and parents went back to nature to improve the woodland and pond at a school.
More than 40 volunteers spent four hours cleaning out the pond at Eagley Junior School.
Children as young as six have also been maintaining the woodland.
The woodland and pond is on the school grounds and is regularly used as part of teachers’ lessons.
Headteacher Andy Latham said: “We do a lot of outdoor learning and activities anyway and the kids loved it.
“Eventually we will be using it, the woodland and pond area, as part of forest school learning.
“It’s basically taking learning outdoors, learning about art, nature and how to build things.”
Mr Latham intends to keep the initiative going and to keep getting the kids involved in outdoor activities.
