BOLTON actress Maxine Peake is starring in a bittersweet music video.
The Silk actress, from Westhoughton, agreed to appear in the video for Pandora after hearing the track, written by singer/songwriter Chris Flynn.
He said: “I’ve always admired her as an actress. I think she’s a fantastic actress.
“I think the song is so strong, people are coming on board with it.
“I’ve been song-writing for many years and I’ve been going around touring.
“I recently played at Ramsbottom Festival.”
The video for Pandora was shot in a Salford pub, where the lead character, played by Chris, sees 'Pandora', an old flame played by Maxine, and the events unfold. Chris, from Salford, said: “I suppose it’s acoustic music but it’s real music for real people, about real issues and situations.”
He says he takes inspiration from kitchen sink dramas, Jim Cartwright’s Rise and Fall Little Voice and musicians such as Tom Waits, Elvis Costello and The Smiths.
The video for Pandora — which references Pandora's Box and opening to the temptations and the consequences of what then happens — will be premiered at Chris Flynn's gig on Saturday, November 30, at the Castle Hotel, Manchester.
