WE are all looking for that golden nugget of advice that will lead to hitting the ball crisply with added distance and that flies dead straight every time.
The key to longer and straighter shots is a combination of sound fundamentals all coming together at the same time.
Trying to keep your head down, staying behind the ball or slowing your swing down is often very misleading advice that will make your swing less dynamic.
What you need is a smooth transition from backswing to downswing by shifting your weight on to the front foot on the way down.
Even if your head moves slightly towards the target, your aim is to shift the weight on the way down which allows the arms and body to work together at speed and move the centre of gravity forward to maximise the pressure on the ball.
So, if you find yourself hitting behind the ball, topping, or generally lacking power, try shifting your weight on to the front foot and avoid hanging back through impact for more consistency and those extra yards.
