THE SUMMER sun shone on a group of helpers who held a community garden party for a good cause.
More than 200 people, mostly residents of Eagley Bank, attended a garden party on Saturday (June 8) and raised more than £1,500 for Farnworth and Kearsley Food Bank, which gives food parcels to families in need.
Stallholder Hilary Fairclough said: “The weather was great and the party was a resounding success.
“The ice cream parlour was working full pelt throughout the day and the home-baked cake stall was good enough to put most shops to shame.
“It was a wonderful effort from everyone who played a hand in organising it, especially Maureen Heggie, who helped bring things together.”
Mrs Heggie said: “I would like to say a very big well done to all the organisers. It was a fantastic day for Eagley Bank.”
Since 2006, a group of residents under the name Tame Eagley Bank have raised more than £10,000 for good causes
